The Subconscious Mind

Most dictionaries define subconscious mind as the component of the mind that operates beneath the level of consciousness. This altered mental state can occur due to a brain injury, a traumatic experience, or even through practice of meditation, astral projection, lucid dreaming, and hypnosis. When a person chooses to tap into the power of the subconscious mind, that person can accomplish great things.

Meditation

An example of using the power of the mind can be seen with meditation. Meditation can help on a physical, psychological, and spiritual basis. From a physical standpoint, meditation has been proven to lower both stress and anxiety which helps lower the chances of heart disease. Meditation can also be used to relieve pain in some patients. Others have experienced drops in cholesterol levels, lower heart rates, and even enhanced energy.

Physiological benefits of meditation include increased mental alertness, gains in both cognitive ability and memory, and the ability to increase mental stability. Many people who have meditated for years have professed the physiological benefits they have experienced.

Spiritual benefits of meditation can include providing peace of mind, a stronger connection to a higher power, a deeper understanding of your true self, and a more enlightened awareness of the world. Many people feel a sense of calm for long periods of time after meditating. This feeling alone can combat the stresses of daily life in a busy world.

There are many different types of meditation, and in a following article we will go more into depth on this subject.

Astral Projection

The Subconscious Mind

Astral projection, which is also known as an out of body experience, is another way to enrich the mind. Many people have talked about their experience of this phenomenon after a serious accident or injury which leaves them lying on an operating table. Some have described the experience as floating above their own body and looking down upon themselves, watching as the surgeon works on them, and being able to hear the conversations of the doctors and nurses. This is a common occurrence in people who have experienced traumatic injuries. While this type of projection isn’t planned, there are those who are able to do the same thing after taking the time to learn the process and perfect it. The end result can be a greater understanding of the world we live in, a sense of calm, and a feeling of inner peace.

Lucid Dreaming

Lucid dreaming most simply put is the knowledge that one is dreaming during the dream. This can transfer into the ability to control one’s own dreams. Although the practice of lucid dreaming takes time to learn, there can be many beneficial reasons for doing it. Most people have experienced bad dreams or even night tremors. What if a person had the ability to change the outcome of their dreams? People could feel better and even more refreshed upon waking. Some people dream about things that are bothering them. What if a person could conquer whatever person or situation was bothering them in their dreams? This could be the manifestation of taking control in real life.

Hypnosis

Hypnosis has been used for years for a variety of reasons. For people looking to quit smoking, lose weight, gain self confidence, deal with anxiety issues, or even improve sports performance, hypnosis has been the key to unlocking the power of the mind. There are two ways to get to this power, the first by going to a trained hypnotherapist and the second by self hypnosis. Self hypnosis is easy to learn, a great tool to have, and one that can be used for many different issues including self improvement.
